The report reveals that the latest electric long-haul trucks are equipped to travel an estimated 350 kilometers on a single charge. This capability is particularly noteworthy in light of the EU’s stringent driving and rest time regulations for truck drivers. These rules, which mandate a 45-minute rest after 4.5 hours of continuous driving, dovetail with the recharging requirements of electric trucks, allowing drivers to utilize these breaks to recharge their vehicles efficiently.

Additionally, the report points out that the mandatory 11-hour overnight rest period for drivers is sufficient for a full battery recharge, ensuring that the electric trucks are ready for operation the next day. ENTSO-E’s analysis also looks to the future, predicting that ongoing advancements in electric truck technology could soon increase their range to up to 800 kilometers per charge.
