Electric truck charging infrastructure needs $450 billion

The roll-out of the refuelling infrastructure necessary for Electric Trucks would most likely necessitate investments of over USD 450 billion by 2040, with China expected to receive the largest share because of its enormous truck fleet.

Refuelling technology will most likely evolve. Slower chargers will predominate in the early years, with a gradual shift toward a greater proportion of fast chargers of 500 megawatts (MW) or more.

Aside from operational advantages, higher-power chargers can result in cheaper per-unit expenses if used properly. Furthermore, the change to higher-power chargers will also help to cut charging times.
